500 by Five

Somerset County Library and Somerset County Judy Center are excited to bring you 500 by Five. Our goal is to help make sure Somerset County children hear or read 500 (or more!) books before they turn 5, and we thought we’d help you by giving you prizes!

Registration

At your local branch, ask for a 500 by Five sign up sheet. Fill out the requested information - please note we have to have a valid phone number OR email address in order to contact you about prizes! You’ll get your kit when you sign up at your local library branch. When you’re getting your kit, why not also get a library card and check out a stack of picture books to share with your child?

All Books Count

Every book counts, whether they are shared one on one by a parent/grandparent or if your child uses online storytimes. If your child is in daycare or school and hears a book there, that counts, too! Every book counts! You can keep track of your books in the paper log. For every 100 books you read, you’ll get a prize. Please bring your log book to your local branch when you get to a “Congratulations” page to receive your prize!

Prizes

We’re offering prizes for every 100 books you log. The first four prizes are more books for your home library plus a puzzle or toy! The grand prize, 500 books before age 5, is a surprise (but trust me, it’s AWESOME!). When you get to 500, we’ll celebrate! Contact your local branch to arrange picking up your grand prize!
